Local Needs Talk: Brothers must repair dents and scratches on their vehicles...
by Calebs Airplane inso about 8 years ago, we had a local needs talk about dents an scratches !!!!
it was given by the cobe and this guy was just your normal everyday elder.
except he had his occasional pet peeves... like (you guessed it) dents and scratches on some of the brothers' vehicles.

Role Reversal: Placing 1969 Awake with JW's Manning the New Portable Literature Displays
by snapdragon4 inin recent weeks the jw’s here in the uk have been setting up their new portable watchtower literature displays in my local town square on a saturday morning.
as they hadn’t knocked on my door for at least five years, and consequently feeling somewhat neglected, i thought that i would pay them a visit instead.. .
the first thing i needed to do was arrange my literature.

Totally briliant!
They are so used to being in control and free to walk away when questions get awkward with a promise of returning that this is a way we can have a proper discussion with them. They can hardly tell you to "go away" that would be very rude.

NEW BIBLE RELEASE
by The Searcher inhad a brief chat with an elder from a distant congregation today: long story short - he has spoken to "someone" at london branch regarding the 'famine' of bibles within the org, and was told by this "someone" to just wait until nearer the end of this year.. he said it sounds like we're going to get an announcement via the annual meeting!!.
i said that it was strange that two world wars, the spanish 'flu, the wall street crash & the great depression couldn't stop the society producing bibles, so something major must be causing it now.. does anyone have any more info on the new york court action against the wtbts and the nwt writing committee?.

Some of the older dubs have many handwritten notes in their Bibles and won't want to start again. I cannot see it being changed too much as I am sure it's these "amendments" wake some people up.
The updates in the Revelation book were the start of my doubts on doctrine. Perhaps the large reference bible which must be quite expensive to produce will be discontinued completely and if the smaller bibles contain more appendixes they will no longer be necessary.

Since leaving watchtower what has been your biggest act of rebellion?
by 3rdgen ini'm in a pissy mood and would love to hear your stories.
personally, i'm thinking of getting a tatoo on my rear end saying wbt$ kiss this!.

My first rebellious act was to buy a lottery ticket. I did it on-line so it wasn't quite as wild as brazenly going ino a shop and buying it but I didn't get struck by lightening when I won a tenner either.
Buying a birthday card in a shop was a bit scary, returning seasonal greetings at xmas gave a real sense of freedom, singing the xmas carols in my head in shops with no guilt, getting involved in local politics, signing petitions, swearing...............a lot, meeting my first apostate and realising he didn't have horns nor a forked tail.
And so much more rebellion still to enjoy.
Lovin' it!

Former Unbaptized Publisher, New Here
by GloomySunday informer unbaptized publisher, here.. i'm new to the forums and have hesitated for months to join this forum.
i was raised in a jw family, and was never baptized, because one of my parents didn't think i should be baptized early.. my mother became inactive, but i eventually went back for social contact, eventually starting a study.
i raised a few questions, only to find that the conductor would get irritated and defensive when my questions would get deeper into the topic.

Here is an NBC story that discusses the Child Abuse Telememo
by nonjwspouse ini am not sure which thread this was debated on, but in this memo: 'in reporting states, the form instructs officials to advise local elders to make an anonymous phone report from a neutral location, such as a phone booth '.

It was in this thread from 3 years ago:
When local laws require elders to report allegations of child abuse, why has the Watchtower Society never disclosed to JWs that it directs elders to make the reports anonymously from public telephone booths? Why keep this information secret? If elders want to trumpet their moral stance, they should have proudly identified who they were and who the perpetrator was.
I have a copy of the telememo which I showed to the Police because I was so disgusted and horrified by question #9 "How many elders felt that the victim was somewhat at fault or willingly participated in the act".
